#3 Leaving Home.

Week 3: the day I left home.
I moved out of home on November 21st, 2014. I was 17 years, 3 months and 17 days old. It was the day I graduated and I couldn't have been more ready to move out... It's not that I didn't enjoy living at home or anything, but I really enjoy independence and having a lot of time alone - I've brought this up before, but that time alone is time for me to get my hermit/introvert energies back up :-)
Anyways, the months and weeks leading up to my move out of home date were some of the most exciting days as I prepped and prepared to move out on my own. I can almost remember the day minute by minute. I woke up on the morning (it was a Friday) in the back of my car, mildly hungover, next to one of my high school friends (Sasha). The night before was my official high school graduation, followed by a grad party with my entire grade. My friends and I had decided that we were going to head to school before everyone else and take showers to freshen up and look (somewhat) presentable. This was one of the greatest, but also saddest, days of my life. Once our names were called, one by one, in front of peers, teachers, staff and parents we did a walk of honour that lead to us all jumping in the lake in our school uniforms (a school tradition). Sasha and I had dinner plans with Meg and Bec later on in the day, and since everything at school was over by around 12 I had time to do a few trips down to the city to drop off my stuff to my new place. I spent the night at home, in an empty room, with all of my things in my new house because the next day I was flying to Singapore with my parents for end of school celebrations. Once I had returned from a week in Singapore, I spent my first night in my new house, alone. It was terrifying, frightening and lonely, but at the same time, completely liberating!! I was so excited for all that was going to be ahead of me, but little did naive 17-year-old me know the following few years were going to be crazily unpredictable...
Lots of Love, E
