#1 High School Changed My Life

Week 1: that thing that happened in high school that pretty much changed your life forever.
I think this is a fairly obvious one to start with... I've spoken about this in at least one other blog post before, but hands down the most life changing moment of high school was moving schools.

I joined the debate team, and while I had been debating in smaller competitions since Grade 6, there was something about the passion for debating that my coach (my now awesome bestie, Meg) held for debating that really encouraged me to be more confident within myself. The skills debating give to a student (or anyone who debates) are incredibly important in not only debating, or high school but in life. As kid/teenager in high school, you don't realise the value public speaking holds in day to day life and being able to speak in front of a crowd has become very helpful being a blogger as well as being a university student.

Meg ended up being such a prominent part of my senior high school years and I will be forever grateful that I had the opportunity to meet her. Once I moved high schools, I signed up for debating and she was our awesome coach! By the middle of grade 11 she was also my English teacher, and by the time I started grade 12, Meg was also my English Extension teacher. Meg is now not only my mentor and university assignment life coach (hehe), but also one of the best friends someone could ask for. I have made so many frantic phone calls to her in times of need, texted her at all hours of the day and night, shared glasses of wine and many laughs and just been able to spend great quality time with her. Meg is someone who can offer awesome motherly advice, as well as have the funniest girl chats and she's someone I never could have imagined having in my life, but I'm so grateful that she is. She's never getting rid of me now!

Anemice was another aspect of moving high schools that was just extraordinary. The two of us clicked immediately and have spent pretty much every waking hour since then together. We take many fab selfies together, have late night conversations that start with a hilarious and get very deep and personal and we could spend hours upon hours playing cards and drinking coffees. We started on a debating team together (see, everything good in my life starting with debating), then we travelled to Malaysia together for a netball tour, we then debated heaps together and got closer and closer as time went on. By the time I graduated high school (Anemice was in the grade below me), the two of us were inseparable. We now go to the same university and I'm so grateful that she is still such a big part of my life.
