January Favourites.

Thursday, February 04, 2016

Before I start this, guess who's finally come up with a blogging schedule for 2016?!?! ME!! Well, who else would it be on this blog? Finally, after a month into 2016 I have sat down with Lillian (basically the brains behind this blog) and organised/scheduled my blog posts for 2016. Monday will be the Weekly Bit; an insight into my week, photos and anecdotes from the week. Thursday will be a bit of a miscellaneous post; the first Thursday of each month will be a favourites post of my favourite items/things from the previous post (this post are my January favourites), other weeks might be mini tutorials, reviews, rants, raves, travels, etc. And Saturday will be a post titled Let's Get Real; something that's on my mind, an insight into my personal life, an anecdote, something I'd like to share with you.

Let's begin... I'm going to separate these posts into sections - beauty, book, fashion, Netflix, other.

Beauty
I have been completely obsessed with my beauty blender this month! Like, OBSESSED!!! I went from using multiple different brushes to apply my primer/foundation/concealer and now all I use is the one beauty blender - it's a life saver - and I believe has made such a difference.
Moisturiser was another beauty favourite during the month of January. Here in Australia, the weather has been extremely warm and unbearable, making my skin dry. The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream alongside the Kiehl's Avocado Eye Treatment have become lifesavers.

Book
I read 2 books during January (Thinking, Fast and Slow by D. Kahneman & We need to talk about Kevin by L. Shriver) but I have to say that out of the two of them [although both were amazing] I loved We need to talk about Kevin. I don't want to give anything away so here is the review from Goodreads.com Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of the unlovable boy who murdered seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his sixteenth birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin's horrific rampage in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin. Uneasy with the sacrifices and social demotion of motherhood from the start, Eva fears that her alarming dislike for her own son may be responsible for driving him so nihilistically off the rails.

Fashion
I spent a lot of January in activewear. I got back into fitness in late November and since then have tried to workout at least 5 times a week, therefore a lot of my time was spent working out and being too lazy to change into actual clothes for the rest of the day :-)

Netflix
I not only spent the first week of January in Hong Kong [where Netflix is blocked], but the last 2 weeks without Internet so I've rarely had the time/Internet to watch any Netflix. I can say, however, when I did watch Netflix during January it was Jessica Jones - a private investigator with super powers... Let's just say it's female hero and Marvel, so you know it's going to be amazing.

Other
My only other favourite this month was soy milk... I have a new obsession with it!! The only time I've drank regular milk this month (or had any kind of dairy actually) was with Anemice at our favourite little cafe Old Bean in an iced latte - because this weather is fucking ridiculous and incredibly hot!
