[Current] Plans of 2016.
Saturday, January 16, 2016Okay. So 2015 seemed to be the year of travelling, exploring and tons of adventures... I've decided that 2016 needs to include more studying. However, I can't really leave QLD as I need to be in Brisbane quite a bit for work, as well as on the Coast to spend time with family and friends - because I miss them too much when I'm away - so that only means one thing... I'm studying at USC. ARGH. Something I never thought I'd say. But I've looked into the course and it seems pretty interesting with lots of field experience and it allows me to transfer to different universities across Australia (and internationally) when the time comes for me to move (again). I know there will be a lot of groans out there but I'm going to be doing (already accepted - woo) a dual degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education (major: English, minor: History) and a Bachelor of Arts (major: linguistics, minor: literature/creative writing). Reasoning behind it? I've always wanted to do teaching (since I was in grade 5-6) and it's been something that has always remained in my mind while doing anything else. And the reason I dropped out of it so early last year was maturity... I didn't feel like I fit into the entire university world as a very newly (like 4 month) 17 year old. So I've decided I'll give it an actual go and see if I can stay in one place for 4 years. I always have writing to fall back on, or the Bachelor of Laws/Business. If I decided that university really isn't for me and I should just enter into the 'writing workforce' then that will be a decision I make in June/July. Also happening in June/July is another trip to Seattle. I promised Morgan I would go and see her graduate high school and then we would spend a month or so travelling together before she starts college and I have to return to the real world to start semester 2 of uni. Since this is technically my second year of university I do get credits for 8 courses in my Bachelor of Arts degree which makes the world load for this year a lot less than anyone else doing the same course as me. As for my blog this year, until I start university (end of Feb.) the upload schedule will be random and sporadic but once I start uni I think I will go to a 1-2 post a week schedule - probably uploading Tuesday and Saturday. I hope I can travel to a few other countries this year, I'd love to climb to Base Camp of Everest this year - it's something I've wanted to do since I was 14 -, mum turns the big 60 this year so a small domestic trip for her birthday is in the works, and I'd love to visit some close by island countries like Fiji and Vanuatu. Hope you've started your 2016 plans!!
