The Little Things.
Monday, May 18, 2015It's the little things in life that make me happy. The tiny moments that go by in your day. The small things that make you smile. You know? I wrote a post the other day about the things I was thankful for and I wanted to elaborate a little more. In that post, I mentioned things like friends and family, books, etc. I wanted to elaborate on the smaller things, the things that happen in a day that I have been paying more attention to. Here's a few:
Breakfast in bed: I don't even mind if I have to make it for myself and come back to curl under the blanket.
Cuddling in bed: sometime it just feels good to hold the person you love and watch the world pass by outside your window.
A smile: you don't know what someone is going through, I try and smile to at least 5 people each day.
Watching the sunrise/sunset: nature is incredibly beautiful, and whether you're watching the new day begin or another day end it's very rewarding.
A pair of warm socks from the dryer: with all of this cold weather recently there has been something very comforting to throw a pair of socks in the dryer for 10 minutes and then placing them on my feet.
Receiving flowers: Joshua always brings home fresh flowers for absolutely no reason, but I have been known on the occasion to order flowers for myself - the world will be a devastating place when you can't by yourself flowers.
A lazy evening: I try to allow myself one night a week where I eat dinner in front of the TV, put on a movie, have a bath, read a book and drink a tea.
Candles: the ability to light a dozen candles, turn off all the lights and meditate... enough said.
Pyjamas: you know those days where you literally don't take off your pyjamas - aren't they just the best?!?
Waking up but not having to be anywhere: those mornings (usually weekends) where you have no where to be all morning which means you can stay huddled under the blankets and cuddle :-)
Forehead kisses: enough said.
