So I'm going to talk about starting afresh. In 2014 I graduated high school. Graduating with my closest friends was the best feeling ever! I wouldn't have wanted to graduate with a better class than I did. I was on top of the moon. I had applied for university, I was awaiting my op score to see what uni I could go to and I had all my friends! A tradition that had been around for years is that once you have graduated you get in your decorated cars and head down to the nearest beach and jump in with your uniform on and they get destroyed! You would think that graduating and getting into university was the best feeling in the world? Don't get me wrong it so was, but when you get into a university where you are two hours away from all your friends, it's something different. I moved to the Gold Coast to attend Griffith university and to live with my dad. I love the idea. I still do. I love living with my dad. I moved down in February 2015 so it's been almost a year. In the time I have finished my first year of Uni, got a job at a theme park after months and months of job searching, made a few friends, turned 18! However you may think all of this is great. But from this change I have lost some good friends. We have drifted apart, it hurts! When you realise that the people who you thought you had forever was just your friends because you lived near or you went to school with them 5 hours a day, 5 days a week! It was so hard moving away and adjusting to so many different things. It's been almost a year now and I have probably seen my friends about 6 times in the year. It sucks, it truly does. I wish that people would stick to their words and actually be genuine. Instead of lying and not making effort when other people are being truthful and trying to make an effort with them. I miss my friends, I can honesty tell you that. From where I am sitting now, I feel like my spot as being my best friends, best friend is being replaced with someone new, and that hurts so much! I know people will say you don't always stay friends with the people you were friends with in high school! I get that but when you feel like you have no one anymore, that sucks!
If you are reading this and you are still in school and preparing to graduate, keep this in mind. Stay in contact with your friends as much as you can, include them even if you make new friends, go on adventures, keep the friendship there otherwise one day you'll wake up and realise that they have found someone new to do all those things with. I wish I learnt that sooner, than a year down the track and I have barely anyone anymore!
