Mini Update: Basically, blah blah blah I'm still not super comfortable writing every single day because I am just still feeling quite anxious and I am really, really enjoying my me time for right now. O-Week (or Orientation Week) begins on Monday for my university which means primarily means that it is a week of getting to know new people, find your way around campus etc. So, it's an entire week of me hoping: 1. my anxiety doesn't make an appearance and 2. my super introverted personality hides for a bit. I'm sure I'll update you throughout the week. 

What are you wearing?
A very slouchy black t-shirt and white stripe pyjama shorts. Fun fact about me: I refuse to wear regular clothes when I'm home. As soon as I get home I put the most comfortable pyjamas on :-) 

Ever been in love?
Yep. Sure have.

Ever had a terrible breakup?
Yep. Let's just say that I was at a friends house, received a phone call and was told some pretty shitty stuff. I then proceeded to run every moment of the relationship through my mind and absolutely hate myself thinking about all the possible times that I could have stopped the relationship or figured out what was happening. Blah, blah. We're moving forward, right? 

How was your first kiss?
Surprisingly not as horrible as many people say theirs were. It was actually quite romantic. Excluding weird details… We went outside next to his car and I guess it just felt 'right'. It was kind of perfect.  

Any tattoos?
Three actually. I'll upload photos and explain them and their meaning one day but I have two on the inside of each hip and one on my rib area. 

Any piercings?
Oh god. How much time do I have to explain. Over the past 5 or so years I have gotten and removed a few piercings from my body. In order: 
I have my firsts done in my ears which I got done when I was about 2 years old. 
I've had my belly button pierced when I was 13 or so (yep, I was that kid) but I took it out the summer before grade 11. 
I got my nose pierced when I was 14 and I took it out, again, the summer before I started grade 11 but when I'm feeling spontaneous I will put it in from time to time.
I have my seconds in my ear which I got when I was 14 as well and I still wear those everyday. 
I got thirds pierced in my ear when I was about 15 but I wore them for maybe two weeks and took them out because I hated them.

Favourite show/s?
This is quite a seasonal thing. Shows like Sherlock, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Doctor Who, GIRLS, The OC, FRIENDS, etc. will always be classic favourites and I will continue to watch them forever. But recently, I have been really into shows like How to get away with Murder, Revenge, Game of Thrones. 

Favourite bands?
Mmm, Angus and Julia Stone. Does that count? 

Something you miss?
Being able to hang out with my very best friend everyday. I miss her dearly. Since leaving high school and moving into the city (she still lives up on the Coast) we haven't seen very much of each other. She's come down and visited me once but it's not the same as seeing each other everyday at school. 

Favourite song?
How old are you?
Seventeen. Although, I don't really feel seventeen. I do feel older than I actually am and sometimes I struggle to talk to people my own age, but there are defiantly other times when I will wrap myself in a blanket with a cookie and watch a Disney movie :-) 

Zodiac sign?
Leo. A leo is supposed to be confident, ambitious, generous, loyal and encouraging. I really like this explanation of a leo: 
Leos are extremely sensitive but they hide that very well. Leos love praise and flattery, their egos demand respect and adoration. Leo is all about pride. This can cause them to appear self-centered but the warmth of the Leo heart keeps it under control. 

Quality you look for in a partner?
Hmm. This is going to sound very cliche and maybe a little unbelievable but I like someone who can make me laugh, joke around and have fun but also have serious, in-depth conversations. I believe that the inside is A LOT more important that physical features and I also believe the more attractive you are on the inside (generosity, caring etc.) the more attractive you become on the outside.

Favourite quote?
I have far too many to choose from but the one that is coming to mind right now is from Maya Angelou: "do the best you can, until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."  

Favourite actor/actress?
I love anything Meryl Streep does; she is just perfection. Anything from her old stuff like Out of Africa to her more recent stuff like It's Complicated and Into the Woods, I just love and adore her. As for an actor, I have a soft spot for Alec Baldwin. His voice… oh my :-) But I would have to go for Benedict Cumberbatch, obvious reasons. 

Favourite colour?
This alternates depending what season it is. It's between pink and orange. I feel like I can get away with wearing pink more in summer and spring and orange in autumn and winter. 

Favourite word? 
My favourite word is very odd and has absolutely no place in my vocabulary but I find it so quaint. Autumnal. And it purely means a characteristic of autumn. Stupid, but it reminds me of London and plus, autumn is my favourite season. 

Least favourite word? 
Phonetic. Anyone who knows me to a nerd level knows my hate of this word. MINI RANT - so phonetics is looking at how the word is related to the spelling and therefore how a word is pronounced. The word phonetic goes against it's own study as it isn't spelt FONETICALLY!!! Looking at the word phonetic spelt fonteic just looks stupid and autocorrect keeps telling me that it's the wrong spelling but I just hate how the word goes against it's own theory. Rant done. 

How long does it take you to shower?
This depends on a lot of things. Do I have to be somewhere urgently? How much of a rush am I in? Do I need to wash my hair? Can I take my time? 
A shower in the morning before school used to take me a solid 2 maybe 3 minutes. When I know I have time on my hands however, a shower could take me anywhere up to 45 minutes. I have been known to take hour and a half long showers.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
This part takes no time. Putting on my makeup (for a normal day) takes about 5 minutes and putting together some sort of an outfit another 5 minutes. 

Ever been in a physical fight?
No. And I don't plan on being in one. I am quite weak and I can't stand physical confrontation so if someone tried to fight me I would probably just run away. 

Turn on?
Someone who is very funny. 

Turn off?
Arrogance. 

Last thing that made you cry?
I was forced to, finally, watch Marley and Me. Man, I don't own a dog but that movie just got me and I was uncontrollably (and embarrassingly) crying. 

Meaning behind your URL?
There really is none. The night I created my blog I guess I just kind of though of UnorthodoxSimplicity and now it's stuck. 

Last book you read?
I wanted a light read and so I just finished It by Alexa Chung. It was actually quite good apart from the constant photos and very large font.

Last show you watched?
Season 3 of The OC. 

Favourite food?
Anything with pasta. 

Place you want to visit?
I really want to visit places like Cambodia, India and Vietnam. Hopefully planning a trip over in October/November this year.

Uh, about 5 minutes ago ;-)

Favourite piece of jewellery?

I have this ring that I got from my parents for my birthday a few years ago. It has a peridot stone in it (leo birthstone) and it is just so precious.
