Exploring
Friday, January 30, 2015With this whole 'moving thing' and being a lot closer to the heart of the city I've been doing a lot of solo-exploring. I'm about a 10 minute walk into the Main Street and just off there is where the quaint, beautiful, exquisite bookstores are. I think, in total, I visited about 8 bookstores today. I didn't realise the true joy that can come from picking up a book and reading a few pages. I try to make a mental note of never reading the synopsis and never judging by a cover. This way I don't have a predetermined idea of the novel. Usually, I will walk into a bookstore and find a random novel somewhere in the classic or fiction section of the store. That way, the only thing I have truly chosen is the genre.
Tonight I went back to an old favourite. The food markets. I walked around for about 30 minutes before deciding exactly what I wanted to eat for dinner (I ended up going with oysters). Afterward I walked around the little boutique stores and purchased a few books and small furniture pieces for my new place.
